Who we are
DR. ROYSTON
Dr. Norris (“Ren”) Royston has served as a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner since 1996 and is certified as an FAA Designated Senior Aviation Medical Examiner, conducting First, Second-, and Third-Class pilot medical exams. He began practicing family medicine in Marshall in 1976 and has deep roots in the community he has served for nearly five decades. He plans to retire from clinical practice in May 2026, but will continue to perform FAA physicals without interruption.
A native of Middleburg, Virginia, Dr. Royston attended the University of Virginia and earned his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he received the Caravati Service Award. Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Royston has been a dedicated leader in his profession and community — serving as the 185th President of the Medical Society of Virginia and being named Citizen of the Year for the Marshall District in 2011. Dr. Royston lives in Marshall with his wife Diane and is married with three adult daughters and seven grandchildren.
